Resources for Inspiring Writers
I was sitting here thinking what to write about in my blog today, especially since my brain is drawing a blank when it comes to me working on a new book idea. At the moment, I haven't the slightest clue of what my next book will be about. However, ideas are coming and going in my head; none of them deciding to stick around for awhile.
So with that, I am venturing off into another direction today as I sit at my desk. Earlier today, I was googling resources for writers. And guess what, I found plenty. I scattered what I found on places like Twitter, Facebook and Google+; thinking that someone might benefit from these treasures, especially if they are just starting out as an inspiring writer. For those starting out, it is so easy to become discouraged, but if you are serious with this line of work, you will not give up on it....ever; no matter how hard or how long it takes to feel and see the success of your dedicated labor.
There's a lot of free "stuff " that might interest you as a writer, all you have to do is Google what you are looking for, or the areas of writing you are haveing problems with. Search, read, study, explore and learn all you can of the behind the scenes of writing and becoming an author. Beoming an author not only takes skill and talent, it also takes guts and a whole lot of patience. And yes....a lot of trials and errors will knock at your door too in the way of "Drafts and Edits" when you think you have finished your manuscript. Another thing, the long waiting lines that goes with submitting material to traditional publishers. That can give you a headache while you wait for a response as your masterpiece sits in a queue waiting to be seen.
All of this sounds a tad bit dreadful, but it doesn't have to be. This is just how the ball bounces in the world of writing. You will have to learn to take the bitter with the sweet and let your desire, dedication and willful spirit bring you to the finish line. But you know what....as a writer/author, you never come to the finish line because there is always something else to do and maintain. For after your manuscript has turned into the pages of a book, and sitting on the shelf of a bookstore; then your focus will have to turn to promoting. But that's a different avenue to explore. And again, you can find out all about that just by Googling it.
I put a lot of links on my Google+page for inspiring writers and authors, links that I think will be beneficial for those looking for information. For instance, for my personal use, there's a link there that will take you to a page of prompts, that will help you get started with writing when you don't have an idea of what to write about. I am going to use that one myself, because right now...after 11 published books, my brain is drawing a blank for something fresh and new.
I have posted links that contain tips for writers, writing courses, free software for authors, and how to deal with writer's block. On my Google page, there is even a link that leads to a list of suggested books to read for aspiring authors that Stephen King recommends. You do know who that is, right?
If all of this sounds good to your ears, why not stop by my google page and see what you can find that will help you in this adventure. Trust me, when all is said and done, you will know and feel that this writing stuff is well worth your time and your committment. Coming full circle makes you feel satisfied and worthy to carry the title of author.....so smile, you've got work to do and so do I. We've only just begun.
